Libya

Since 2007, Alligan has been working in Libya through its wholly-owned, Libyan registered company, Alligan Libya.  Alligan Libya has successfully completed school improvement projects in State schools across north-west Libya from Zuwara to Misrata.

These projects included importing furniture and equipment that facilitated more interactive styles of teaching and learning.

On its Sabratha Campus, Alligan established an Environmental Analysis laboratory for the Environmental Engineering Department within the Faculty of Engineering of the Al Jabal Al Gharbi University of Zawiyah.  Alligan was commissioned to set up the specialised laboratory to the increase the Environmental Engineering Department's capacity in environmental analysis, through the use of Atomic Adsorption Spectrometry technology to analyse water, waste water and soil.  This was a highly technical project which required the approval of the International Atomic Energy Agency.  Alligan provided the training for local staff to operate and maintain this facility.

In a related environmental development project at Zawiyah University Hospital, Alligan implemented a Medical Waste Disposal system based on high-volume autoclave technology developed in France.  This represented the introduction of a significant improvement to the way in which hospitals handled medical waste disposal in Libya.

Alligan managed the process from initial concept through sourcing the technology, importing, what turned out to be a complex technical installation and the training of local operators.

Alligan expects to resume its activities in Libya in the near future.
